I miss Google+ (and even more Google Buzz that came before it, and FriendFeed before that).
It's true that it was mostly a failure, but the fact that 2011 Google engineers were encouraged to participate in public on it meant there was a great seed for lots of really interesting technical discussions.
HN (and ML Twitter, and maybe a few sub-Reddits) are the closest substitutes now, but not really the same.

I didn't know who this is but it seems to be some guy who writes about bitcoin and dark web markets and was sort of trying to stay anonymous but put a doxxing bounty on himself (of like $39). He was discovered thusly:

I kind of like the weird inline inflation calculator thing but ultimately I think it's more distracting than useful. That's definitely true of the "years ago" thing. Neat idea, but not a good one.
